Session 2 - Sarah & Hagar: Journey
Traditional accounts of Genesis focus on the men or patriarchs of Israel – Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. But, what about the women, the matriarchs of Israel – Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Leah to name a few? These women were central to the survival and prosperity of the nation of Israel.
Hagar, an Egyptian slave to Sarah, was the first woman in the Bible to name God directly and is a matriarch of the Islamic faith. Two times she finds a way to survive in the wilderness when it seemed impossible.
Through faithful exploration of the biblical narrative it is our task to unearth the lives and stories of these women. We meet Hagar and Sarah as we bridge the generations and discover that we women today share similar stories and journeys.
